Thinking Outside the Box-Cake

I grew up on "box cakes"... the kitchen isn't my mother's favorite place to be because she is so picky. However, one thing she did make often was box cake. It is a quick, easy, and yummy way to make a cake. Although I enjoy making my cakes from scratch, every now and then I crave the simplicity of the box cake.

As I was getting ready to start baking, I came across my friend's Facebook page that had a really cool idea for box cake...of course I had to try it and share!!

Here is what you need:

~Box Cake (everything the package says you need)
~I prefer butter instead of the suggested oil
~Food coloring
~Icing

Follow the instructions on the box...

Separate the batter into different bowls distributed evenly.

I used four bowls.

Then add different colors of food coloring to each bowl.

Pour the batter in the pan alternating the colors on top of each other.

Bake at the suggested time.

Ice the cake.... I used cream cheese icing on the outside and milk chocolate in between.

And Enjoy!

Chocolate Fun

My significant other's grandmother makes chocolate covered peanut butter crackers every year for Christmas, and with all the Halloween candy out in stores right now I immediately thought of them. They are super easy, fun to make, and you only need a few ingredients!

What you need:

Buttery Crackers
Peanut Butter
Chocolate Bark
Decorations (if you want)
Wax Paper

First put the peanut butter and crackers together.

Then melt the chocolate.

Dip the peanut butter cracker in the chocolate and place on wax paper.

Then decorate!

I had a lot of chocolate left over and found some pretzels in the pantry....

Of course I had to dip those too!!

And then do a taste test...

Place the pretzels on the wax paper while the chocolate hardens.

Then ENJOY!!
