Meet Cooper

I was on my local listserv the other day and found a post of a dog needing a home. These types of posts always tug at my heart because I wish I had the time/money/space to help all living creatures (mainly dogs, cats, & humans) making sure everyone is fed and happy. You know, basic rights. I usually read the description of the animal, become sad for a minute and move on... I can't help everyone/everything. But this was an adult Weimaraner.... my boyfriend's favorite dog. I just had to rescue him! Oh and I am so glad that I did...he fits in perfectly! It has been a smooth transition and Cooper (that's his name) seems really happy. It has been nice not having to deal with "puppy issues." Cooper listens and is well trained, it makes me feel sad for the guy that had to give him up. But we have him now, and he is the GREATEST!!

Things Cooper Enjoys:

1. Long Walks

2. Car Rides

3. Large Bones
4. AND NAPPING (his personal favorite... and mine too)

I'm sure there will be more to come on Cooper (he just joined the family). So be looking for future posts!

My Best Friend's Wedding

My best friend since Kindergarten just recently got married. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and because I love her so much, I just have to share it with the world (or whoever happens to stumble upon my blog).

Her wedding was located downtown Nashville, a city known for live music and loud honkey-tonk bars. The precession took place on top of a building over looking Broadway, one of the more touristy spots of the city.

We arrived right at 7:00 and this guy told us we had to wait in line for the elevator.

Almost to the elevator!

I signed the guest book before we loaded onto the elevator.

This is us crammed into the elevator.

Ahh made it to the top and here is what was awaiting us....

This is the bride's sister.

Bride's side.
Groom's sister.

Groom's side.
Here she comes! She looked absolutely beautiful!

Her dad giving her away.

Kissing the bride.

Walking back down as a married couple!

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Harris!

A few photos of the reception.

I left a little early (I've been sick all week and the last thing the bride/groom needed is to get sick on their honeymoon). This is what was waiting for us as we left.

It was perfect!

Blogging Inspiration... Apron Making?

I have finally decided to join the "blogging world"!

I have several friends who have blogs but didn't really "get it" until I visited one of my good friend's Courtney's blog.  One of her blogging interests include cooking, and because she inspired me to create my own blog, this first entry is dedicated to her.

Courtney just recently had a birthday and I wanted to sew her an apron.
These are the fabrics I choose.

This is my little "work shop" a.k.a. my kitchen table.

I was having fun, so I decided to add some piping to the pocket.

When I was sewing the straps I realized I didn't have any D rings... No Worries! I used some old keychain rings instead.

The key-rings held up just nice and I felt good about re-using something I was not using.

It turned out so cute!  It is always fun to sew/create something with a particular person in mind.  I just couldn't stop at the apron, I had to make something else...

So I got more of the fabric together.

And cut out a shape for an OVEN MITT!  I did not have anything to use for the insulation and lining so I started looking around the house for things to re-use.  I found an old towel (that had holes in it) and a wool blanket that I did not particularly like.  PERFECT!

Quilted the layers together.

Added a little trim.

Too cute!!

They are made for each other!

I think Courtney was as excited about her apron as I.  Plus, when she tried it on, my heart leaped.  It looked perfect on her!  To see my blogging inspiration check out her page at www.onemoderngirl.blogspot.com.
